Torghatten
First ferry contract in Sweden
Torghatten has won the first ferry contract in Sweden. From December 2025, Torghatten will operate the connection between Strömstad and Koster.
This will be the first regular ferry service Torghatten operates in Sweden.
“We have been working for some time to establish ourselves in Sweden, and Strömstad-Koster will be our starting point,” says CEO of Torghatten AB, Stein Andre Hergistad-Olsen.
In connection with the new contract, Torghatten will build two new electric ferries, both with a capacity of 248 passengers. These ferries will be built for 100 percent electric operation.
“In Norway, the ferry industry has taken significant steps towards green transition, and as Norway's largest ferry company, we have solid expertise in electric ferries and low-emission technology. We are very excited to offer passengers completely new, environmentally friendly ferries between Strömstad and Koster,” says Herigstad-Olsen.
In addition to the new contract for Strömstad-Koster, Torghatten also operates the autonomous city ferry Estelle in Stockholm. Torghatten has a clear strategy to establish itself as a solid ferry operator in Sweden.
